I know everyone gets all swept up in the coral frag frenzy come swap time, but I just want to remind everyone that as always, we have two-- TWO! amazing speakers lined up for your reefing enlightenment. I strongly urge everyone to attend both lectures. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. The schedule will be posted when it is finalized but here are the talks and a bit about our fabulous guests, Kevin Kohen and Scott Fellman. I'll see you there and you bet I'm watching!!!!

Kevin Kohen:

?Superstar Reef Aquarium Fishes? encompasses some of his all time favorite, unusual and hard to find aquarium fishes suitable for reef aquaria.
This talk is packed with fabulous photographs and practical information about some holy grail fish that few ever get to see. We are talking SERIOUS EYECANDY!!!!

Bio: Kevin earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Wright State University, and is an avid marine life photographer, lifelong aquarist and marine fish enthusiast. He was one of the early pioneers maintaining live corals in captivity back in the early 80's. He began his professional career in the marine fish industry working in a retail fish store, and then moved on to manage the operations of one of the largest freshwater and marine fish wholesale and import/export businesses in the Midwest for over eight years. From there, he ventured on to launch the LiveAquaria.com web site, and designed and oversaw the installation of the Drs. Foster & Smith Aquaculture Coral & Marine Life Facility. He currently oversees the operations of the facility, and is responsible for the acquisition of the animals, as well as their husbandry. Kevin writes articles for various aquarium publications and speaks to reef clubs throughout the country.

UPDATE: Kevin has recently successfully paired, and spawned, several batches of eggs from the rare McCulloch's clownfish at the LiveAquaria.com facility in Rhinelander, WI! This feat has only been successfully accomplished by one other person in the world, and Kevin is the 1st in the U.S.

Scott Fellman:

"Nutrient Control and Export - Ways to Increase Water Quality and Eliminate Nuisance Algae."

There are a lot of different ways that you can achieve and maintain high water quality. Scott examines a number of methods that can help create sparkling clear water and ideal conditions for your aquarium inhabitants. Whether you?re a veteran hobbyist needing a refresher, or a total newbie trying to achieve great water quality- this presentation has a little something for everyone- and does it with the typical heightened sense of absurdity that you?ve come to expect from Scott!

Bio: Scott Fellman, is the consummate ?reef geek?! He bleeds saltwater!

Much of his life centers around tweaking his protein skimmer, scraping algae, cleaning up spills, or figuring out how to unglue his fingers. He?s been keeping marine aquariums since he was 12 years old, and during that time, He has maintained all sorts of aquariums, fish bowls, plastic boxes, and just about anything that can hold water. His passions are aquascaping and marine biotope aquariums.

He?s mentored fellow hobbyists since 2002 on Bob Fenner?s WetWebMedia.com site, and was Co-Editor of WWM?s Conscientious Aquarist online magazine for a couple of years. Scott served as president of his local club, the Marine Aquarium Society of Los Angeles County, in 2006 and has written a number of articles for Freshwater and Marine Aquarium Magazine, Ultramarine UK, Marine Fish and Reef USA Annual, ?C? Journal, and other online venues.

In addition to his writing, Scott has have racked up the frequent-flyer miles, travelling all over the U.S. speaking at clubs and events about all sorts of reef-related stuff. He presented at MACNA XIX in Pittsburgh, IMAC 2008 in Chicago, MACNA XX in Atlanta, and MACNA XI in Atlantic City, MACNA XXII in Orlando,as well as IMAC West in Long Beach, and Reef-a-Palooza in SoCal.

A recent denizen of the east coast, Scott currently works as a Senior sales representative at House of Fins in Greenwich Conn.

Can't wait Randy for another epic MR event. Two amazing speakers and not to mention, that everyone has the opportunity to see the reef tank that has been recently featured on pages 194 & 195 in the recently published The Coral Reef Aquarium by Vargas. Congrats again.
