Help with coral dipping

I dipped a lobo this morning because I lost a head on it this week. I put it in fresh ro/di water with powerhead for 10 min using 1 gallon of water and 20mil of coral rx dip, I then put the lobo back in the tank. 20 min later the coral was sliming/smoking and didn't look to good. What will it look like when I get home from work? What did I do wrong?

I don't think the ro/di was a good idea. Usually dip with tank water and coral rx.

ive used fresh water to dip before, i actually prefer the tap over the rodi water because the small amount of chlorine is a bit of a disinfectant. the only thing i see that you did wrong was dip it in the fresh for the 10 minutes, the longest i have diped in fresh for was probably a minute max

Well, looks like it worked, damage has stopped even saved half of one head! Now the question is what do I do with the damaged head? Dremel it off or leave it be? I don't think it will grow back? Please help
