Help! I ordered a new stand because my existing MDF stand is garbage. Within the past year the corners of the stand are pealing apart and I'm afraid one day the stand will give out. I'm placing my new wood pine stand only a few feet away. I want to know if there is a thread on "how to breakdown the tank". My tank is a 75 gallon reef. I also will be replacing my crushed coral bed with sand. My main goal here is to keep all my live stock and corals alive during this move. Any help would be nice. See you at the Frag Swap.

when i moved my tank to a 75. i bought a couple of big containers and placed all my corals in one with some pieces of live rock. then a bucket with my fish also with some pieces of live rock and then a bucket with just live rock. i put a heater and a little powerhead in thier because my fish stayed in over night. when you change your sand out if you are trashing your old sand make sure you put in a at least a cup of your old sand to seed your new sand bed. if i was you i would put your sand and some pieces of live rock in first and let it settle then proceed to put your livestock and corals in after it has cleared up. my fish were fine in a bucket for a night.

its pretty easy ;) (coming from an expert in breaking tanks down and redoing everything :lol2: )

1st get rubbermade bins like 20 gallons or whatever you need to save as much water as possible and to store your fish, rocks, coral in there. place a heater and a small power head aimed at the top to move the top of the water to help with oxygen in the water.

2nd start emptying the water and fill up the bins

3rd take all your rock and corals(if you have) out place them in the bin/s

4th take your fishs out and place them in the same bin or another one add some live rock to it.

5th have extra saltwater that is the same temp as the water your adding back to your tank

6th take out the crushed coral and clean the tank as you wish

7th put your sand in the tank place a dish on the sand to start filling up with water. (it will cut the cloudiness from the water hitting the sand)

8th put rock back in and check all parameters

9th once parameters are good place fish and corals back in. make sure the tank is not cloudy and clear.

hope this helps
