I just finished setting up my tank and I came across a major issue with my two overflow boxes. Fish will inevitably get sucked, pulled or jump in to the overflow boxes which is already happening. Getting them out is totally not an easy task and one I never want to deal with in the future. I'm not sure what I can use to keep them out and to still keep the flow clear and flowing. I was thinking about netting around the teeth and to surround the top but not sure how to keep it in place, at least that would keep them from going in there. The next option is netting that would drop down in to overflow boxes so when a fish goes in he can just be pulled out by the net, only problem with that is will the fish survive being in that catch net with water rushing on him. If you guys have any suggestions feel free to chime in.

We'll if you put a net it may be a bit of work still to get a fish out that

I have hard black plastic covering my 1 corner overflow box. It not only keeps the fish/inverts from going in but also quiets down the OF. As long as you have air going into the OF this will work.
I'm going to try a netting that is big enough to let the water flow but keep the fish from going over the falls in to the overflow zone. True Mr Saltwater, they will either get stuck in the net pinned or with no net just live their entire life span in my overflow boxes which will definitely bother me more knowing theyre alive back there. at least if they are pinned they have a chance of getting free by Mr Hand. Let you guys know how it worked out.
+1 and it is stiff but flexible- you put it on the inside of the overflow and cut it so it is tight end to end..if you need to you trim the side where the pipe enter (look in the overflow and you will see what I mean ...if you have that type).
Works like a charm to keep the fish out
