Hi folks,
I just want to say thank you for being open, letting the students in, and for simply ensuring that the swap is more than a swap- an educational opportunity.
The two HS students I brought LOVED it. They went around asking vendors questions about lighting, coral and fish behavior and propagation techniques.
One of them on the way back to the school was attempting to strong arm her family into starting a saltwater tank to resemble Randy's tank (the biggest one). She says she actually wants to out size him by having a reef tank she can swim in!!!
-So, thank you Josh for always allowing students.
-Thank you Kathy for always being helpful and friendly (the students kept saying "just follow the blond lady" when we couldn't figure out where things were located)
-Thank you Russ for telling them about livestock acclimation and quarantine
- Thank you to the two vendors that told them about business start ups, coral propagation, and coral behavior.
- Thank you to James and Acan Lighting for talking to them about the usefulness of LEDs, how they are set up, and the impact of light parameters on the reef tank. Also for your willingness to donate an anemone for the school tank. I will work harder to educate my peers that volunteer to take care of the tank during holidays so that we don't lose any other organisms.
-Thank you Randy for answering their questions about your tanks, and for having such a diverse array of tank ecosystems for them to look at.
-Thank you Awibrandy for just being awesome without trying
-Thank you Nikkibabee for helping to direct us and for being a familiar face
I also just had a blast seeing familiar faces. I can't believe I've been on this board and coming to different events for so long. I kind of miss how often I use to come here to just hang out on the chat board, etc though. Some day I will have more time, and hopefully a tank of my own.
Have a great day
