My tank is about 3 1/2 years old. I really didnt have to many problems with phosphates before but I did have problems with nitrates. We fixed the nitrate problem with the brs bio pellets. Now I am haveing problems with phosphates since herrican Irene. So I just changed my fresh saltwater tub to the kind that will not leech phospates into the new water. Cause i found phosphates in the new saltwater. So 12/1/11 I did a phos test with a hanna checker and the reading was 0.19 so that night I did a 30 gal water change ( my tank is a 76 gal with 20 gal sump so Im guessing with the rock work its about 80 gals of water total) After the water change I also added the 150 mls of the phos4x4 pellets thinking that would help bring it down too. I checked the water and it went down to 0.10 on the meter. On 12/3/11 I checked again and it was 0.10 So I was making water tonight (12/5/11) to do another 30 gal water change to bring it down to 0.01 or lower. But I just checked it and it was 0.12. WHY????
Any Ideas or help on figuring out this phosphate problem would be greatly appreciated.

Should help control them, will not get rid of them. Will only get rid of what goes through the reactor. I am not sure how long it will take for it to leech back out of the rocks. It is only a guess, lets see who else chimes in.

Have you tested PO4 straight out of your RODI unit? Check if your DI resin is exhausted; usually brown if you have the color changing resin.
The resin is brown but my tds shows 0 coming out of my di. I tested that water last week coming out od the rodi and it was 0.

Well I did a 35 gal water change this morning and I just checked the phosphates I had to do the test 3 times using the same water in the 2 tubs.
first test 0.20
second test 0.10
thrid test 0.19

Im going to send out a email to hanna and see what they have to say. And I have to find someone close by to test it with a diffrent test kit tonight.
