Royal grammas don't have such a great rep. But then again With any species you can get a peaceful and/or an aggressive fish.

We all know many fish and inverts are classified reef safe but may or may not be truly reef safe.

To state that they are a reef safe fish and that its going to be fine is ignorant IMO. But again, yours may be peaceful but it's definitely not the case for all of them.

I had an absolute terror.

Most of the time when I see royal grammas in fish stores they will have them separate from the rest of their fish or in with damsels.

Is your royal gramma aggressive or show any aggressiveness? The fact your asking if they will work kinda sways me to believe he may be aggressive.

I hang around here, nano reef, and rc and most of the time when I read about royal grammas I'll read that they are very territorial or that they are having issues.

Is it another case of
" me too "
" mine too"
Bandwagon type of issue. I don't know. But mine was vicious.

On another note, My personal clown attacks everything and is young. So I personally wouldn't trust him. He got evicted from my shallow side because he constantly going after my shrimp and other small inverts and he's only a juvenile. Or maybe he's an angry midget.

Should you decide
Too try it, make sure you introduce them in a good location. Inside or near a stinging coral would be great.
