I am going to be putting together my QT tank. I put the ceramic pieces and the filter sponge into my main sump to get the bacteria growing in them. How long should I leave them in there to be sure that the bacteria is grown into them.

Thanks
Anthony

dont medicate the tank... however do not immediately put rock back into the tank as well... if need be... leave the rock there... or leave a few pieces of rubble and use that instead.

Ya. I just put a bunch of rubble in the sump also. I plan on using as QT but also as Hospital if I need to. So if I medicate then that rock will kinda be lost. I'm crossing my fingers that I won't need that any time soon. But I want to get fish, but cant QT them without decent QT setup... I can pull a small piece of rock out of my nano to get the QT going...

if the sponge filter is running in your sump, it's cultured as soon as it gets dirty, and you can squeeze stuff out of it. The stuff you're squeezing out are the bacterial cultures and microbial life you're looking for. Dead/dry rock or other hard inert pieces take a while for the bacterial to work their way into the structure, and is probably the 6 weeks forementioned.

well if you have a filter sock... you can always just dump it into your QT... and let the small amount of life (pods and other stuff) run amuck in the QT... This should help it a little quicker.
