Hey,

has anyone made a back wall filter on a cube? I just ordered a tank from glass cages and i wanted to build my own filter chamber in the back. Its a nano tank 22x22x14 rimless. I need to make this an all in one so that i can have room to store everything in the stand.

I was planing on using 1/2inch thick glass. (Will order from a glass shop in the BX)

If anyone has any experienve or willing to lend a hand please let me know.

Thanks,
D

i'll try to assist you in any way I can, but first a couple of questions.
1- how are you going to get the water to flow from the dt to the filtration unit. most AIO units that are sold have teeth notches in acrylic.
2- how are you going to get the filtered water back to the dt. most AIO units have some sort of pump hooked up to lockline, and this also need a hole drilled.
3- how many chambers were you thinking.
4- what kind of skimmer were you looking into adding.

1 I am thinking of doing that, and overflow into the back chamber.
2. I have a mag 5 but not sure how that will work. Think it might be too much since it will be located directly behind the DT. So i might have to down grade to something smaller like a mag 3 or soemthing. I was planing on using glass do make the partition adn then drilling the hole, say 1/2 return x2.
3. Thinking about making 4 chamber given the space. One will be the over flow, the other will be the chamber where i will use the filterfloss and i guess live rock rubble. The third will be a refugium and the last will be the return.
4. I was thinking of not using a skimmer yet or at all. But if i did i would like to put in the first chamber where the overflow would be and i was thinking something like the tunze9002. - think thats what its called but its the small one that attached to the glass.

Should i cut the glass myself or should i just order the glass cut? THoughts?

Wow really?? pm me with the price and stuff. Let me know what you need from me and stuff. The tank size is actually 24x22x14, i just changed after i put up the thread. Also the tank comes in on 1/07/11, so thats enough time. Thanks for all the help!!

Looks great. So the return will be on the left and the overflow will be on the right.

How would i fit the fuge?? I was thinking of using one section for filter floss in combination with eggcrate to surve as support and to seperate the LR from.

Would be too much to have 4 chambers instead of 3? one fore nano skimmer, second for filterfloss and LR and third for fuge, last would be return. I am trying to see where i can place the filter floss without messing with the fuge area in the three chamber you designed.

Also, can we make teeth for the overflow area?? Not sure if its possible with glass.

Ok scratch the teeth idea. How about just a small slot on the overflow. I can prob make the teeth with acrylic and attach it with slot of the overflow.

So what are your thoughts on the four chambers? i figured it be easier to maintain that way. I can even make a carrage for the rock and filterfloss that i can easily just pull out to rinse and change filter flose then just slide it right back in.

Think you can draw up a four chamber? And let me know what the damage is too i dont want to waist your time if i cant afford it. Hope you understand buddy.
