Ok guys I thought of this to be a good point of refrence thread. After reading JHale's recent thread. Please share what equiptment you have upgraded to and from what you upgraded from. Also why you upgraded. Also if you think the upgrade was worth it or not.
Ill start off where to begin where to begin lol;
Lighting
XM 10k to Reeflux 10K
Liked the colors on the reeflux better but think the XM's are still better
Calcium Reactor
MRC calcium reactor to Jetstream Shcuran 1
MRC never ending leakis fix one another showed up. I think the Jetstream is a MILLION times better. VERY happy with it
Return Pump
Mag 18 to GenX8500 to Red Dragon 8.2
Mag 18 was worried about the screws rusting. So i got the GenX which was LOUD and i mean LOUD it was 2200 GPH compared to the 1800 from the Mag 18. Because of the noise I decided to go with the Red Dragon 8.2 which is also 2200+ GPH and the thing is so silent you dont even know its on. Extremely happy with the RD
Skimmer
ASM G6 to Bubbleking 250 INT
The ASM g6 was rated for a 1200g tank I have a 180g tank, it worked great BUT it used 300w of electric. So I decided that ill try the BK out since it is supposed to be the best out there. The BK only uses 48w :) and it DEAD SILENT and out of all the skimmers I hae had I think it is all its cracked up to be
Circulation
I had 2 Tunze 6100's went to 4 6100's
I felt i needed more flow and boy do I have it
But now im waiting on my wavebox. I am not gonna be using it though on this tank, I am moving in July and gonna use it in the new set up ill keep eveyone posted
Thats all for now that i can think of any questions about anything feel free to ask ;)
Nick

mj 1200 to tunze wavebox = the best wave maker on the market.
mj1200 w/wave maker strip to 3 tunze streams on a mult-controller 7095
mj1200 to oceansmotions 4 way on a closed loop.

I hate mj they keep falling all over the place, creating sand storms

My current set up i have had plumbed for a internal so it was just easier to have it that way but my next set up im doing i need a smaller sump and rather just have it external to make it easier to clean when I wanna clean it
