So after much contemplation, I switched over from my Remora HOB and Fluval 405 to a sump I designed. Best move I have ever made I have to say.

So I have a mag drive 7 for my 46 bow front. The pump makes a lot of noise since I am controlling the flow with a ball valve. It makes to much noise if you ask me. I really don't want to buy another pump right now. Has anyone ever had this problem and have any suggestion to rectify it? Thanks in advance.

i wouldnt try the sand in the bag idea, its a great idea and love the concept its just that if water gets in it which it most likely will then you can get stagnant water in the sand in the bag and possibly cause problems, get a rubber mouse pad or if you go to a pool supply store they sell rubber mats that go under pool ladders, get that and cut and layer to specifications. that only works if its a vibration against the bottom problem, if its more of a clicking problem you can have something wrong with the impeller or a piece of sand may have gotten stuck in it
