so i fired up my tank, now mi skimmer is going nuts. keeps on overflowing. is it because i just started the tank and don;t need the skimmer or is the feed pumo i'm using to string i'm using an old aqua clear 402 power head..

its a bm 160 recirculateing skimmer

No I bought it used over a year ago. It's the first time I ever fired up the skimmer

Ok, so it never been run...run it wide open and let it drain into the sump...its new and has to break in...its normal and can take up to a week.

The tank is new. The skimmer is used .

turn down the feed pump, recirc really dont over flow unless the feed pump is too much or ya have the gate valve closed too much
