I had a few hermits that were getting a little too big blue leg i think, anyways rather than just killing them i stuck them in my cichlid tank which they seemed to move around for a while untill one of the fish ate him. How long can they survive in FW?

That's an expensive meal, but if you really wanted to kill it you could have picked a more humane means. :scratchch

I think they would survive longer in air than FW, IMO, but neither is best for the poor hermit.

You can covert fish over from saltwater to freshwater but inverts are more sensitive and usually most will start to die when the SG gets near the 1.010-1.014 range. Some will handle lower but most wouldn't, hermits because of how hardy they are would probably be able to take the lowest SG but probably eventually would die .

They should stay pretty long or at least they can climb out of the usual tank.

Mine always travel thru compart to compart of my MODed ecosystems. A lot of the times they land on the miost filter pad in the air.

Did they start to kill your snails and that's why you move them away? I want one of your white snail when you want to let go of it.
