I started my 90 gal 4 months ago. I started the tank with NPX Bio Pellets. I added Sps in the 3rd month. Now in the tank for 1 month the Sps are really coloring up and growth is good. Skimmer from day 1 is working hard. Lots of Dark green junk. I have to clean the glass every day. No Hair algae. Ph 8.1 Cal 440 Alk 9.2 AND PHOS near 0. Tested with Saliert except Phos done with API test. Just got new Red sea test kit and will post if different reading. T5 and led lights. 40 gal sump/refug with 150 reactor 400ml Bio Pellets. Reason I'm posting this last week read about people system crashing & jumping off the Bio Pellets. So I'm hoping my system won't crash too. I was adding 2 parts to my system but notice Alk went to near 13.0 So I stop dosing and tank is stable. I'm using Sea Chem SALT SALINITY which I like but leaves a lot of white power in Mixing tank and very cloudy and have to mix for a day. All in all I'm happy with Bio Pellets so far. Sps are looking good if it just stays stable I will keep using Bio Pellets,. I just pick up Bactiv8 which suppose to work with Bio Pellets. Would like to hear more about long terms on Bio Pellets.

Well I use to have a nitrate reactor which used 2 pumps and I had 0 nitrates. I wanted to lower my ele bill any way I could and still am trying. So 8/20/11 I went to the bio pellets. They will raise your alk a little bit and I have had some problems with my tank (not from the pellets) but I still have 0 nitrates in my tank and its running off a pump that runs water thru my pellets, gfo and my chiller so thats a few lest pumps...

Now what I didnt like about the bio pellets is that when I went to them I was thinking I wouldnt have to run my gfo phosphate reactor or run carbon. Well I was wrong you will have to run gfo and carbon if not right away then in a few week. I found out the hard way.....,

I would also get a better phos test kit the api test kit that I use is the nitrate kit and only that one from api...

Good luck...
