anyone have a idea how to figure out what size pump for a 20 gallon fuge for a 40 breeder tank?
seemes eshopps only has 300 or 800 gph overflow boxes so would have to go with a 300 or 800 gph pump...was hoping to do 5-600 but dosnt seem possible....any advice???? thanks!!!!!

I use a mag5 for my return pump. I think it's more than enough.

for what size overflow and tank?

20g sump 40g breeder. However I have a drilled tank.. but it shouldnt make too much of a difference.

A 10x turnover on a 40 breeder will yield you a 400 gph pump at the head height you have the tank set up. so going with an overflow box with 1" drains would be more than enough. IMO you can do a 5x turnover with the same overflow box it will be very quite, and also save you some money on electric, and also heat build up from the pump.

the box i want is eshopps..its either 300 or 800 gph..does the pump have to match? i dont want a overflow with airlifters so i am limited..

the rating on an overflow is the max gph it can drain water. never overpower that rating at all.
