I've got a friend coming into town tuesday, and she wants to go out for seafood. Got any good recommendations? Inexpensive and good are the key. Okay, good food is first on the list. But the money I don't spend on dinner can go to the bar tab!

I'm looking for midtown and south. I don't have a car and don't want to have to cab too far back to her hotel. (see bar tab note above)

Thanks.

"don't want to have to cab too far back to her hotel."

WOW...now that isn't the least bit presumptuous.
I hope she doesn't frequent manhattanreefs - or you'll certainly be able to afford a nice dinner - as you'll be dining ALONE!!!

OUCH.

BTW, I presume nothing. She and I have hooked up before. We also have gone out for drinks and not hooked up. She and I get along really well. IF we'er both single and in the mood, why not. She has an early morning presention so I don't think anything will happen.

And here I thought you were going to give a great recommendation, instead of giving me grief!

I realize that cheap seafood is a relative term. I'm talking about $20 a plate vs $50 a plate. Out the door for $100 and change is okay. ( I have a feeling that if I buy dinner, she's buying drinks
)

and would you really want to eat a plate of $10 seafood if you're not at the beach where it's fresh and abundant? Me neither.

thanks for finishing the sentence house ;)

if you want cheap seafood you could take the bus to City Island and go to one of the quintessential seafood restaurants. That will impress her for sure. You could get cozy on the bus ride home.

these days I think dinner is cheaper than the drinks, as long as you have anything but domestic beer or the house wine.

I see I'm not the only dumb one in the bunch.

She's working all day, and then has to be up early for a presentation on wednesday. So that leaves out City Island. (my first choice)

So far everyone has just listed seafood restaraunts that don't have much more. I'm looking for steak and seafood! Google is my friend!

Knickerbockers in the village.

University and 9th street.

BEST STEAKS IN THE CITY (and best priced).

They have seafood too! and make a great dirty martini.

to name a few, lots of good places in the city.

Solbby, how often do you go to Knickerbockers? My wife and I eat there about once a week. Next time you go ask them if they can make a Knicker Knocker drink. Only a few of the bartenders (the older ones) know how to make it. It is delicious and very strong.
