wow, what a scary moment, after siphoning as many flat worms as i could (there was ALOT) i finally got to addding the solution. After dripping half a container into my tank, there was a snow storm of falt worms. 15 minutes later my tank was a the color of sewage. Everything in the tank was stressed out and my skimmer was going crazy. Full skimmer cup was the color of red brick. DId an immediate partial water change and will do another tonight. Also lost my hardiest fish (yellow tang) in the process!!!

After this experience if everything is not dead, i may have to restock with frags, so i will be in the buyers markets soon = (

As the instructions state, be prepared with a water change. There are flat worms in places and the impact of their die off should not be underestimated.

with the flat worm medication you calculate the actual gallons taking in consideration the rocks sump and sand. so your 150 isn't really 150 it could be more like 120 or so. You may have over medicated.

i too recently cleared out my flatworms with FWE and lost a Bellus Angel. it is sad and tough to do, but the way i see it, it's only a one time ordeal - as long as you dip all new additions from now on as i'm sure you will.
dont worry about slightly overdosing, many people overdose FWE, it is not the medication but the FW toxins that are of concern.
oh yeah, and my skimmate was blood red.

You should consider treating again, since I am sure that you didn't get them all considering the amount you had.

Absolutely 100% agree.

I also absolutely 100% agree with Albert. The FWE did not kill anything. I dosed a FULL bottle in my 100 gallon system. The five most important things to do when treating for flatworms are:

- siphon out as many live FW's as possible everyday for a week before treatment.
- have enough fresh SW made up and aged prior to treatment.
- Run a powerhead, by hand, directing it at all your LR and nooks and crannies and dead spots (or just low flow areas) as possible while the FWE is still in the water.
- siphon out as many dead FW's as possible as soon as treatment starts.
- RUN CARBON starting one hour after treatment

This same treatment needs to be done 3 days later and then one week after the first treatment.

I did this last June and haven't seen a FW in my system since. I did have one casualty, a feather duster. I now drip about 7 or 8 drops of FWE into every single bag holding any coral going into my tank. Most of the time this is just a prophylactic treatment, but sometimes I'll see a dead FW or two after I've done this.

I'm sorry about your loss. I'm sure your system will be healthier now that you've removed the dreaded pestilence though.
