Has anyone ever thought of putting orange peels in the sump or maybe 5ml of orange juice, instead of buying expensive vitamin c additives?

Please let me know the positives and negatives to this in your opinion.

Why even bother putting Vitamin C? It isn't a requirement in a reef tank. Just have a good skimmer.
The same for Garlic. It supposed to boost fish immune system, just feed them healthy food. IME, giving garlic to try sure a disease never works anyways.

I was only asking because I had a sick Pinnatus Batfish. Expensive f*cker! He was sick over the holiday and I didn't have time or know if the LFS was open. Anyways today I was doing a water change and was wondering if I could of saved him trying to do one of these "home remedy" type deals.

It kind of makes sense to me, except that it would probably dirty your water.
I can see where you are going with this though. But like Ming said, instead of trying to add vitamins to the water to get to the fish, I'd rather just feed more nutrient dense foods.

Ever heard of selcon? I guess you could soak your food in this stuff. And I've heard some good reviews about it.
