I think people are over dramatizing the clear hose. Its not a big deal IMO as it only gets a little coraline or some brown surface algae on it. I've never seen hair algae or anything that can clog the hose grow inside a clear hose. This is also assuming that middle compartment is a fuge. If it isn't, then nothing should really grow in the hose at all due to lack of light.

But I would add a hose clamp to the hose where it connects to the PVC. Might seem very tight now, but as the hose gets old, it gets ridged. The clamp just is a layer of insurance.

I do have the clamps but did not have them in place as it was only a dry run.

I gonna stick with clear hose for now since I already have it. If it needs to be changed later so be it.
Someone mentioned that the valve when turned may hit glass, it is actuall clear of the glass, but im prob gonna move it lowere anyway, so not an issue.
What are the thoughts on a check valve on the return line to prevent siphon. Is it worth it or should I just keep flow closer to the top. Im gonna have an MP-10 in the tank so I really don'n need the extra flow from return.
