..and do allow them to dry on their own - do NOT use a dryer.

I am also moving this thread to General Discussion (from Tank Threads), please try and post in the proper forums.

Why not the dryer?

I wash them in the washer with clorox once through a double rinse, then 1 more time through the wash with just water, and double rinse. I've been drying them in the dryer for the past 4+ years with no issue. But depending on the reasoning behind the no dryer, might just let them air dry.;)

If a person is using bleach to clean them - it is best to let them air dry in the event there is residual chlorine still in the sock. Air drying them will make them safe to use in your tank.

Also, many folks use fabric softeners in their washing machine and/or dryer sheets in their dryers which can leave behond a residue (do the socks smell like lavendar ( or whatever)?..not a good thing to add to your tank.

Before I wash mine, I run my washing machine throughfull cycle with nothing in it, and then do the socks using bleach only with an extra rinse cycle and then let them air dry.

Got it Kat, thanks for the response!

I'll continue my method though, only because it has not been a problem for me or my tank in the past 4 almost 5 years this coming February.:wink1:
