I'm setting up my Two Little Fishies 150 Phosban Reactor and I was wondering how to measure the amount of Phosban.
I have a 65G tank with about 25G of water in the sump.
They say 50grams per 100G.
How to measure 50grams?
Also, can you rinse and use right into the aquarium or should I run the pump in a bucket? Someone mentioned that it will cloud up your tank.
Start with full amount or less to begin?

You need to figure out your water volume..if your DT is 65g (assuming that your avatar is your tank..) there is maybe 40G of water in there.
A 25 G sump wouldn't be full to the brim, so figure tops there are 15G of water in there...so you are aiming to treat approximately55G of water.

If the jar says 50 Grams per 100G..(the typical jar contains 150G) - use 1/3 of what is in the container..and you'll have enough for 2 more refills of your reactor.

You should rinse it well before (I use rodi water to do this) adding it to the reactor..until it rinses as clearly as possible. Just by moving the Phosban into the reactor, you will break down some more of it..so when you do turn on the reactor in your tank..have the outlet pipe be able to reach a container and allow the first 'output' from the reactor to drain into that container.
After that you are good to go.

Hope that all made sense! :)

Thanks Kathy,

I have a 65G tank. Why would it have only 40G? It's almost topped off so maybe 60G?
The sump has 25G of actual water in it.

OK so my sump has sand and rock so less than 25G there also.
So I am back to 55G of water.
I am using Phosban media and it says 50grams for 50gal but the container has 454grams.
When I bought it (at the swap from the guy directly across from the entrance, forgot his name:( I am horrible with names) he said to use a 3rd of the container.
That would be ~150grams.
This is my first time using this and I am not sure what too much will do.

I want to clarify - your first post says the jar says to use 50G per 100G of water.
This post says the container says 50G per 50 G
Which is it? :)
(I don't have one here...)

OK thanks Kathy
Thats what I thought but when I bought it he said the container was good for three uses.
I will give it a shot and see how it works.
