Pros and Cons with your VorTech

I got my new toys today and set up one...to be honest I really love my tunze because I can angle them to hit the coners by my overflows...and off the glass.......

SO am thinking bout going back to my tunze but the size is whats I hate...tomorrow I will put in the next Vtech and see what happens...

I'm surprised at the frequency of this complaint :scratch: Especially, by those who saw the VorTech at the Frag Swap. The pump sits flush against the glass. So unless you have a hex tank, directing the flow into corners is that much more difficult. It seems VorTech tried to overcome this 'flaw', by creating a wider dispersal flow.

vibration is not that much (by the way I only have one in at this time)..but I CAN CRANK it all the way up and my sand DON"T make a storm..but my BTA like it can't handle it....at full blast..

Someone needs to re-design the in-tank part with a lockline type ball nozzle. so you can direct the flow a bit.

I think this has been considered, but it kind of defeats the basic design principle of a widely dispersed flow in a very short distance from the nozzle. Frankly, I don't know why anyone would need to direct this baby at anything... what do they have in their corners that isn't being reached? At 4' plus, I have full coverage from front glass to back right into the corner of the overflow. If anything, I think you might need to direct the flow AWAY from some organisms.

I understand the concept of the wide flow, but having a bit of focus could help quite a bit. It seems to me you'd only need 10degrees of deviation to make a difference. I can completely understand why people are having problems 'getting' the flow into corners with something that can only push water perpendicular to the wall of the tank.

And all this being said I haven't actually seen one in person. I've only seen the videos. once I get the chance to actually play with one, I might think the whole idea is crazy!

I was thinking that why couldn't they angle the output housing. That way if you rotate it, the flow would lean towards that direction. Maybe they can provide it as an accessory.

I think the size and flow are great. However, they are way to pricey. I mean by the time you get the pump and controller, you're looking at a hefty price tag.

But you have to give them credit for tackling on the project and going against tunze. I can wait until later to see how they rack up over time. For now my tunze's are proven workhorses.
