mussels???

So I turned over a rock in my tank and notice there is about 6 mussels growing on it...
Where do they come from, how do they just start to grow out of nowhere??

I have not added anything to my tank in months

why are you worried about it. mussels are great water filters. and if you so decide... can be dinner at a later date. :lol2:

Same is happening with my smaller tank. You probably had a few small bivalves hidden in your live rock, and when optimal conditions are met, reproduction occurs.

If you just turned it over they could have been there for months since you last added something to the tank. What was the last thing you added? It could take Mussels a month or 2 to grow.
