yellow tang white spot on eye

my yellow tang has white spot on one eye what should i do to treat this

It mostly could be ich, need to see a picture to be sure though. If you can take the tang out and place it in a seperate tank or container you can then start to treat with either copper or try hyposaltilty.

Does the tang have another other signs of ich like rubbing, flashing or breathing hard?

I would take it out of the tank and place it in a quaratine tank and see if anything else develops. If some thing develops then you can start to treat if not you can return it back to the main tank. QT it for about 7 - 10 days at that point you should see if it has ich or not as more will have develop by then.

I've never seen a fish with ich on his eye

Ich can and does attack the eye, some time it can damage the eye or even cause the fish to lose the eye altogether. Some which can be very minor, like a fish bang it's eye against a rock causing a "black eye" which will make the fish have a pop-eye which usually will go away in a short period. i have had dicus with ich o ther eyes anduse melafix to clear it but thats for fresh water

I agreed with you on the first count that ich does attack eyes but not too often. I have seen cases where they attack the inside of the mouth and gills.

However, I disagree on the pop-eye issue. Pop-eye are usually slow but deadly dieases reflecting internal disorders. Of course, some cases, they are just like you said in human terms "black eyes".

I think a clear pic will help all of us to tell what actually the problem is. In the mean time, can you tell everyone whether the spot a solid white dot or a translucent one, or just a cloudy patch....... Describes it in better details please.

Ich attack the eye and does it quite often. The eye will become cloudy and could lead to the fish losing the eye. It's very common and happen quite often specially if you don't treat right away.

Once again Pop-eye is not a diseases but a symptoms of one of many different things. People have the problem of calling Pop-eye a diseases but it's not a diseases just a symptoms that could be a number of different things.

Yeah that look like the sign of ich. If possible try and get the fish out of the tank and into a hospital tank where you can start treating with either copper or Hyposaltity. You want to treat right away as some thing like this can damage the eye.

You can actually PM ATJ from RC, he a good guy as I've spoken with him many times in the past. A # of people of RC don't alway like some of his views or methods but he put out a good source to start with.
