I just started using it, one packet in the high flow area of the power filter.
I did not find it useful. I found that algae build up on the glass was higher after using it than before I tried it out.

I had only used it for about 2 weeks before pulling it out. There was an obvious color change (about 60% of the package). I think I will treat it (it says to do so with a light bleach solution) and then try again when we install the sump.

i have used it for years. i change it out every month. i also add 4 tbs of gro into the bag. works great for me this way

I use bulk GFO and GAC now. It is a lot cheaper and does the same thing.

Results are in! Although I never had any nuisance algae problems, my PO4 level was REALLY HIGH at .40 (Hanna). After 1 month and 1 week of chemi-pure elite (11.74oz), it is now at .10 A day later after changing out the chemi and doing a WC, it is now at .04 I guess this stuff really works! :party:

I think the elite part, which is GFO, works as well as GFO works. It's the other part that sounds a little "fishy" to me. "Provides positive neurological reactions in fish, mimicking a natural environment... Eliminates osmotic shock... Prevents ion antagonism." I'm no chemist or fish neurologist, but I do have a science background and I don't see a mechanism for these claims.

That being said, I did use it when I had a small system in my office.

By the way, Tunicata, I think you are thinking of Purigen.
