20 gallon long...rimless???

Has anyone taken the top rim off a Perfexto 20 gallon long and used it that way? Will it hold together (yes with water in it)?? I guess I am looking for a ghetto rimless tank.

Not a good idea, unfortunately. Marina sells a 20 gallon high that comes rimless though. It's about $100. Not a bad price. They come in a blue and white box with freshwater filters and things, but you don't have to use that stuff. I think Pets Warehouse carries them.

Can't seem to find a link to the Marina, but I was able to find a link on another forum that implies people generally have good luck derimming tanks up to 20 gal. They actually take both the top and bottom rim off. I think I will try it, but just removing the top rim.

Hagen marina - they come in 5,10,20

They sell them at a number of places. Animals and things in nj is one of them.

Don't listen to the net about derimming any tanks. I wouldn't do it. Ever seen 20 gallons flood? Those tanks are definitely not made to be derimmed. Definitely not a 20.

If your on a budget and want rimless, the marina will be a great option for around 100$
