Love my leds (ai's), Ive experimented with all kinds of different lighting and been impressed with the AI's...
To each there own, but I wouldn't jump the gun and say LED's are crap, because your certaintly wrong.. Check my varies pictures out, you'll see for yourself.....

Not any LEDs but AI's, now don't get me wrong t5's are great lighting for corals, they really are good especially with the right bulb combo! But I do prefer my AI's myself..
And let me tell you not all LED fixtures are created equal, before you buy you need to do some research, there are a ton of LED fixtures on the market that ARE infact trash and should not be used for a reef tank...

Had T5 there great , But led give you better color and growth . I will never go back to MH or T5 again. As for your problem with leds , it was your choice of leds that made you have the problem you had . Acan what a joke............. If you went with AI or Radions and Maxspect you would have been happen with your lights.

actually, every led lit tank i have seen, i thought lacked something...colors looked washed out, with t5's the colors looked more rich in tones.

I oringally bought the rapidled kit in 2010, I burnt my corals to dust then burnt those crees by mistake. I replaced those with cheap Taiwanise leds ran 8 white 7 blue, check my tank thread. I have successfully rehabilitated a dying bleached sps and made it grow.

T5s are great until you start getting into larger tanks, 29-30"+ tall tanks you start losing a lot of par even on the best ati fixtures. Personally I don't think LEDs are there yet. I'll stick with my MH, my 3x400w cost me 30 a month in electricity, I pay more than that for salt...

I have to say I have had Acan LEDS on my previous tank and was very happy, all though the color was nice of course it wasn't what a t5 combo would look like, now here is the thing these new radions witch I do NOT have yet are interesting the different colors that you can adjust I'm sure can make your tank look just as nice as t5s and I haven't done any testing but im sure the LEDs par level is. Ether, not to mention our coral growth with my acans my coral growth was outstanding , when I had t5s coral growth was not that great, so jerl how is your coral growth under t5s?
