Over the weekend while cleaning my tank I saw a rock anemone so I used a blade to scrape it off the rock. This morning I saw a couple more attached to a rock, so far they are very small, about the size of a single star poly. Should I not worry about it or start to seach and destroy right away?

you cant kill it so easily, they reproduce like crazy

most ppl find them annoying- and they do sting inhabitance of ur tank

a thing called Joe's juice is suppose to help, but i've heard it only works for so long, they have to be directly injected to be killed do a search on this board for info

The way I see it, the only "good" anemone, is one you put in your tank on purpose. Anything else hitchhiking, merits a Kalkwasser feeding:

Make sure the dealer is 100000000% sure they are pepermint shrimps and not Camelback shrimp. One of my LFS sold me 2 pep shrimp that turned out to be camelback shrimp. The new kid checked the order in not the owner. Needless to say I don't have any yellow polyps left.

finally this morning, took the rock out and completely soap it in boiling water. will put the rock back tonight. there's still at least 2 small ones, will see if the peppermints could take care of them, if not off to the boiler

lost a couple of mushrooms and few worms floating in fresh water

Why would you that????

You also killed the life in your rock.

Again.....what do you think peppermint shrimps are going to do with a rock anemone?

They are a hit or miss with Aptasia.

Not to kill your rock by dipping it in boiling freshwater.

& Peppermints will not "take care" of a rock anemone. If it's not aptaisa, they are 2 different things.

I agree with phil. Can you post a pic of these anemone's and it'll be easier for us to know what you have.
