Low iron glass is similar or same to starphire. There's less iron in the glass so its clearer instead of regular glass that has the green tint.

In order to make your tank rimless they had to use thicker glass. The thicker the glass the more iron between your eyes and your live stock. Some dont notice a difference. And most say unless both types of glass are side by side difference wont be detected.

Its no deal breaker but hey if they offer low iron glass ill take it.

Gotcha, so the lower the iron, the clearer the glass?

Yea. And thicker the glass of a regular aquarium, the more distorted the view becomes. I wouldnt worry too much about tanks with reallythin front glass. But bigger tanks or rimless tanks... def i want starphire... opti pure... what ever they wanna call it. I want it!

I have the 57 Edge right now which is 36x18x20. I would love for the new one to be 48x24x20, those I believe are the perfect dimensions. The reason being, you wont have water all the way up to the 16" mark, itll probably be around 14.4"-15" deep. Add a 1-2" send bed and its really shallow, unless you plan on using it as a frag tank, IMHO.

I look forward to seeing it! Itll be a sweet setup for sure. I would also put it on a nice tall stand, but then you take away the top down purpose of such a tank. I'll definitely be making a trip to my lfs who carries their tanks to check it out. I was going to pull the trigger on the 75 edge, but it seems like theyre bound to have what im looking for shortly. They have the 60 (24x24x24) and the 80 (48x24x16) now they have to combine the two and make a 48x24x24 and Im in.

DBP Customer Service

Just thought I'd follow up with link to thread where we have spoken good and bad about your product. Ultimately we have faith your on to something big!

Thanks!

Me: Hey when I go to deepblueprofessional.com and check out catalog I see a rimless edge 80g 48x24x16. Wow that was fast? Does this mean its out already and I can order. I want one asap!

DB: Hello Andrew,

Fast is one thing, magic is another.

Our marketing team was putting the finishing touches on our new catalog when
they heard about our discussion of your 'perfect tank' - when it was
confirmed that we would begin production on the unit, they made sure that it
was included in this year's literature.

One thing we pride ourselves on here is our ability to turn on a dime and
run with a great new idea, but for this tank we still have to order the
glass, assemble the prototype and test, test, test. Our target release date
for the tank is mid-to-late April, but we will be sure to notify you
personally when the tank is available in your area.

Thank you again for your input, and keep an eye on your inbox.
