Will CRAZY GLUE work or not?

Ummm I guess the reason that people reccomend other glues is simply cause its 100x's easier to use crazy glue GEL, rather than messing with the liquid that probably won't work.
To answer you're question, I've used crazy glue when i was in a jam but it was for tiny frags. These frags were less than half an inch and even then I had to glue them out of water and keep trying to get it to stick. No it won't release any "toxicity"/toxins into the water and you can use it just be prepared to use a whole lot more time and effort to get the same job done.

Got this exact glue gel (Loctite) from Home Depot works great on frags...and it is cyanoacrylate base.

most places will have crazy glue gel, get that in a pinch, otherwise order enough of the good stuff so you will always have it ready.
