You know about my GBTA getting chewed up by my power head..how can i prevent this from happening again...any suggestions will help me for next year.. thanks..

yea lol the strainer was over it...the bta got sucked in the little freaking slot..honestly...how the hell does a 6 inch thing get sucked up into a hole..the size of a pin...sigh...

They make Filters that the Power head can fit into, this will the GBTA from going into the PH. They work with Aquaclear PH but you can them to work with MaxiJet also.

No the PH goes into the top and is connected tightly to the filter, so there is no space for anything to go into it. There is a white filter pad, that you can see in the picture as they have lifted it out of the filter. This white filter pad will stop anything, except the smallest particles from getting into the power head. It's actually good and it collect dirt and grabbage and you can then take it out of the tank and clean it off.

The problem is you have a 6gal tank and have a small mini-jet 606 in it. The intake is very small and has a grill on the front of it. Because you don't want to block that grill, otherwise it really going to cut down on th flow, the really only choices would be to place some rocks around it and this should keep the anemone out of the grill or just go with a small power head and you can connect it to a filter.
i'm not so sure about this since I haven't set up a system w/ any plumbing or anything yet...
but couldn't you make a false wall in the back of the tank for an overflow, w/ the powerheads sticking out the holes?

Sorry to hear another death due to faulty EQ.
The length of the filter pad will disperse the suction pressure of the intake at any given point. The overall flow of the water will be reduced a little bit but it will save you tons of hassle about death and griefs.
I cannot stress enough about the poor design of products and unawareness of the users. We really should pay EXTRA EXTRA attention to the safety of our animals. These EQ will kill our loved ones right when we turn our backs.

Yup it's so unthinkable. I could not think of the tails(which is not deflatable nor inflatable like anemone) of the seahorses could got sucked into the powerhead either. And, it happened jsut when I turn my back to open the door.

what about those new Vortech pumps? Could anything get sucked up in those? too big to help you on the nano but I was just wondering about it...
