i have tis beautiful baby blue stag that i desperatly tryin not to lose.when i first got it it did well for 3 weeks then i noticed some STNin at the base of the coral.i cut the base and dipped it in coral RX and it did great for 2 months and as soon as it started getting a good encrusting base it started STNING again.i did the same routine and it started growing and branching and again a nice enrusting base and again 2 months later STNing.so yet again i did the same thing..what can be goin on.there are no bugs in my tank and i move the coral aroud to see if it will be happier in another spot.i really dont want to lose this peice.i have never seen a stag like this one.my alk is 9.3 and im trying to lower it slowly to around 8.5.been adjusting the calcium reactor every 2 to 3 weeks to acheive that alk.but its just weird to me that its the same coral over and over again

thats what i was thinkin pratt.its just so irratating that it grows so nice and i have to chop it every 2 months and lose its growth.but what i am wondering is why it starts to STN when it encrusts to a certain point.

Is it mounted to a rock or on an plug. If a plug could that something in the material the plug is made from is irritating the coral. May not happen right away because the glue acts as a barrier but when it starts to encrust, its direct contact with the plug starts the STN. Just a thought ...
