Lighting for Refrigium/Sump

Need recommendations on Lighting for Refrigium/Sump (30 Gallon tank) to facilitate plant life, plant in the water (calupera, some other green plant, cheato), and plants outside the water (mangroves).


I was thinking about something even of a pendant base, not too expensive, not requiring any special eletrical wiring (ballasts, switches, etc). Better if can be bracket mounted over the sump tank.

did u guys use the standard metal half bowl thing and just plug it in, or no half bowl reflector?

i took off the metal bowl. i dont think it makes a difference

The diameter of the light bulb won't permit you to keep the 'half bowl' reflector on. It's just too big. However, the bulb comes with a built in reflector, no harm done without the half bowl.

I actually got a Flood light 150W, halogen and with fixture, mount and bulb (had to buy extension cord and join) but it mounts nicely over the sump. $17.00 at HD
