I am looking for a lighting solution that would provide bright light but not heat the water.

Aren't we all! LOL!

That's a great unit. I had one. It won't bring up your temp as much as MH's would.
Only thing is that you are limited to what corals you can keep.

I would also check on a T5 fixture.

need more info. What size tank? What are you planning on keeping in said tank?
The link you posted looks like it is for moonlight? Is that what you want?

I have an aquatinics MH fixture and it is always cool to the touch, even if the light has been on for 8 hours.. Its a little on the pricey side but its really well made.

I think that even if the fixture managed to stay cool to the touch, a MH fixture it still going to add alot of heat to the tank. Most of the heat that is transfered to the tank is transfered through specfic "red" wavelengths. If heat is the main concern, he would be better off going with either the T5's or PCs, wich put off light in a narrower spectrum.

Generally I would agree with you, but I switched from a power compact fixture to the aquactinics MH and there is no noticable increase in heat and the tank is definately not any warmer.. You can actually put your hand directly on the shield under the bulb and it only feels warm, not hot.
