so i recently added about 20 lbs of base rock to my established reef. and i am noticing that all the base rock has this brown stringy algae not the dust like type like diatoms. do you think this algae is just part of the base rock cycling and will die off once it does. or should i be worrying and scrubbing it down. nitrates are at 0 and i still have to get a reading of phosphates. but i just wanted to know if people have experienced this before. theirs none of it on the rock that was in the system to begin with.

it was dead and it sat in a bucket for 3 weeks and i changed the water every week and added the pieces little by little. i wouldnt say the rock was fully cured though. but its dead rock i shouldn't have to fully cure it.
