Sicce

Anyone using a sicce pump, looking to get one, what do you like / dislike about it.

I set up a tank for a friend and the skimmer I got him runs with 2 Sicce pumps and they do an awesome job. But I have to say, they don't both turn back on if I were to cut the power and plug it back in. They say they are low torque pumps and that is why that happens, you kind gotta play with the impeller to get them to spin again

you after one for a skimmer for for a return ? the new models do not have the restart issue the psk2500's did, the new ones are low watt and low heat

I'm running a Syncra 5 on my new tank and my only problem is that it's waaaaaay overpowered. I have it running a bio pellet reactor as well and it's still on it's lowest setting. Any higher and it pumps out the return chamber. It's super quiet and super strong.

I use a Sicce Syncra 2.0 as a return on a 50g tank. Quiet and doesn't put out a lot of heat for a submersible. Easy to disassemble for maintenance too. I particularly like that it comes with 4 suction cup feet which help with the noise / vibration (or lack there of) I turn it off and on 2x a day when I feed the kids too. I've only had it for around 5 months so I can't speak to long term life, but yeah, I like it. Readily available in a lot of places too.

Mine is on a 50g too. The Syncra 5.0 is just out of control strong. I'm going to have to get a smaller one....

I can imagine...the 5.0 is 1321 GPH nominal...that's a butt ton of throughput for a 50g! You definitely don't need that much turn over...What are you water temperatures like? The Sicce 5 draws 105 watts - in 50g of water that's gotta be bbq-ing things. I once had an Eheim 1260 which is nearly half that - 65 watts - and I couldn't keep my temperatures under 85...and that was with no lights, no skimmer or uh, anything else at the time.

I haven't had any heat issues. I have it turned all the way down so I'm sure it's not pumping 1321 gph. I figured that I was going to be running 2 reactors off of it so I needed a bigger pump. I noticed no difference with the 1 reactor I have going now and when it was just the pump. Oh well, you live, you learn!
