I am going to be adding new sand to my tank over the next couple days i just have a question as far as cleaning it. do i just dump the sand in a bucket and rinse it out with a hose constantly dumping the water out untill the water is clear? is it bad to use my garden hose? i dont have access to that much RO water where i can just waste it away.

Fill the bucket 1/3 - 1/2 the way up with sand, and then blast the sand continuously with the hose / nozzle until the water overflowing the top of the bucket is fairly clear.

Doing it in batches like that will minimize the dust cloudiness now, and the time it takes for the water to clear up.

yea i just added in a little bit and the tank is really cloudy so i stopped for tonight. i used a 15 gallon bag of sand and i still have some left in the bucket that i want to add tommorow. will it be ok in a bucket over night with the lid on it? shouldn't be a problem i would think

yea i might not of albano its freezing out lmao. but the tank is already cleared up so as long as i add a little at a time it shouldn't cause any harm. do you think i should rinse it more tommorow? i just dont want tap water to keep soaking into the sand i dont know if thats bad or not.
