I've posted about this idea before and here I am entertaining it again. I have one par38 over my tank and so far I'm happy with it. The bulb is about 10 inches off the waters surface and 20 inches from the sand bed. I'm still getting some dark spots along the edges and with my current set up I can't raise the height.

I wanted to add another bulb on the opposite side for a few reasons. First I want to add the effect of the sun moving over the tank, one bulb comes on in morning, then the other comes on a few hours later, then the first bulb goes off, and finally the last bulb goes off. Second, I want to light the corals from all sides, figure this will give better growth and things won't just grow towards the light. Third, I have a rapidled bulb at the moment and I wanted to add a second bulb with varying spectrum's since this can help with different colors, etc.

First bulb on at 10am
Second bulb on at 3pm
First bulb off at 7pm
Second bulb off at 10pm

12 hour total cycle, 4 hours with both bulbs on.

Does it make sense? Am I wasting money?
