storing salt water

What is everyone's take on storing saltwater thats been made for water chages ?
Currently I'm using a brute trash container, heater, and mag 5. How long will the water stay good for ?

I fill up (6) 5 gallon containers at a time and it lasts me between 4-6 weeks never had a problem...

I use a 44 gallon brute trash can normally last about month but have stored it for up to 2 months and has been fine. i use a maxi jet 1200 for mixing its more energy efficient than the mag 5.

You will only have a phosphate problem if your water has phos or your container will leech. The brutes are fine to store in....

Do you guys keep heaters in there as well? At what temp?

yes i have a heater its keep the same temp as the tank

Once it's mixed,I don't run a powerhead or a heater. When I need the water,I pump it into a smaller container and then heat it.

I like to use a powerhead to keep the water oxygenated and prevent stagnation. I believe stagnant water could be a source of possible problems down the road.
