Ugh. I decided to feed my corals last night for a change so I turned off my Vortech... But forgot to turn it back on...

Came home... One of the heads of my frogspawn dead.

Scared of jelly so I dipped and got whatever loose flesh off

That is weird 0_o I understand every Tank is different, but I have left mine off for a full 48hr(not that it should be done) and nothing has happened to my frog spawn.
Now I did almost loose mine when there was to much flow and i didn't know that they don't do well with lots of flow.
Sorry to hear, but hopefully it grows back stronger.

Does your vortech have a feed mode? I know if I hold one of the buttons for 5 seconds the pump slows down for feeding.

Nah it was just a drop in pH that probably wrecked it combined with non reef safe fish That loves to pick... . It was off for 24 hours. Yea it has feed mode but I didn't bother lol

approx 3-4 hrs - they start to go bad

it all depends on stock and size but i say 6-8 hrs depending on water temp. Get an battery backup or battery air pump and could go days

I lost my 90 gallon in October. I think the lack of a heating source could have been more damaging then lack of flow. I was working when that storm hit and we lot power early in my shift, tank dropped below 40

So provided it isnt freezing a batter backup or battery powered air pump to create flow in the tank and it would be ok for a few days if necessary.
