Hello all, one question...if i was at work and i lost power would my 2 MP 40's keep my 120gal. tank with a heavy bio-load full of oxygen. I have the battery backup hooked up to both of them. Would it keep everything alive over 8 hrs? thanks

The vortech provides flow, it does not however provide oxygen. If you have it high enough that it pulls down oxygen when it is working them yes it will provide oxygen. But no one places their vortechs in such a manner to cause air suction.

alex...i understand and agree. What if i placed one mp40 at the exact height where the water level would be if the return pump shut off. This would allow the mp40 to move the water directly on top to disturb the surface. Would that create oxygen in the tank...does that make sense? One of them now is basically just 1 inch from that spot anyway.

That is not exactly true Alex. As long as there is surface agitation from the water movement ( hard not to achieve with a Vortech) there will be gas exchange at the surface and that should be enough to keep the tank alive. If not, the battery back up is a totally useless thing, and I am confident it is an VERY useful thing.
