Kids are just more honest about why they aren't following through. And it seems you're chastising them for what is a very valid reason, in their mind (and rightfully so. Each of our problems are the worst in the world......to us)

A few before me have said it very well, this site is primarily for the exchange of information, friendship and comraderie. Develop a relationship with everyone here and you'll be able to partake in the BONUS of some trading, GB's and sales too.

If you think the 'antics' of the younger members are exclusive to this board, I suggest you check the other boards and you'll find that this is common all over. In addition, without our young friends, we'd all feel a lot older. I know they help to keep me young. :help: Besides, without the interest of our youth in this hobby, there'd be no future of this hobby.

This is not ebay. The purpse of this site is not so you can sell your stuff at a premium. Being able to sell reefing equipment and livestock is just one of the advantages of being a MR member, but we are primarily a discussion discussion board. We should ALL keep that in mind.

i agree with rich and russ, on the 1 hand this is a discussion forum, buying/selling is a perk here...but i think the utter honesty of a younger member is refreshing and to the point, its ADULTS that harbor insecurities of being honest when it concerns money issues or family issues, and find themselves hedging so thy dont lose face or deemed respect.....IMHO

My 2 cents?.I am relatively new to MR, but what I have experienced since becoming a member is that this is a true community. When I joined MR, I was welcomed with open arms and have found all the members to be honest and friendly. I can understand being frustrated if a deal falls through, but that can happen just as easily with any member of this community, young and old. Perhaps you should employ the ?redundancy? concept to your sales, as is commonly employed by other experienced MR members? ?Next Inline.? Besides as referenced by many members to this thread this primarily a site to share experience and enhance the hobby we invest so much into, NOT to turn a quick buck.

I feel I must also echo the comments made earlier about not down playing the importance of our younger members?.many of those members have much more reef experience than older members (myself included) and I for one welcome their involvement in our group! This is a community and it takes everyone to make it such?young and old?

A few frustrations but overall I consider this site a gift. Its a free resource. If I have something to sell, I sell it. I dont go by dibs. I go by whoever is serious about buying and just sell it. I dont always get what I want to buy and thats okay. There will be others. Dont get frustrated man! Just have a drink. There are plenty of people who want your reef related stuff.

(no kids yet) but if my kid flunked chemistry but like reefing (I'd atleast make sure it's this kind of reefing), I'd make sure he is force fed marine biology....:smash:

I got stuck with about 20 extra mangroves once, needless to say they were big but were turning into trees.....I got tired of calling people (most probably adults) for pick up, so we shouldn't say it's young "reefers" but irresponsible ones....

not only kids do this. most of the people on this site that have bought stuff from me were "kids". honestly though it happens. i have asked to buy something, and something else comes up where i need the money. i can understand if one person does it all the time, but it is usually a very reasonable reason as to why they cannot keep their end of the deal.
