i am thinking of getting a spotted mandarin and i would like to know if there is anyone that have a mandarin in a 55gal. i know it's too small for it but is considering buy pod to increase pod population every 3-4 month would work or not? i also added a few pounds of gravel for pod to hide

the 55 is not too small, but you must be positive there is a large and varied pod population. you can buy pods to seed the tank, and wait six months.
also make sure you have enough rock for the pods to grow on. the recommended amount is 75 pounds.
when you get the mandarin make sure it is fat and healthy.
