I'm thinking anywhere between 40-60psi is fine without. Any lower... you definitely want a booster pump.

+1. I had only 20psi living in high rise apartments with a booster pump I full a 32gal bucket at 82psi in a matter of 4 hours ..

Nelson, optimum psi for an efficient production is 80 psi. Lower than about 65 psi and you will certainly see a drop off. I've seen systems that produce zero RO/DI water at 40 psi. It just wasn't enough pressure to push through the filters and membrane. The path of least resistance is through the waste line, and that's where the water went.

If your water pressure is below 55 psi, you will absolutely benefit from a booster pump (actually, even if your pressure is below about 65 psi you'd benefit).

Can it run on lower psi? Sure, not efficiently though.
