so with that being said you feel that i should either switch to LED (not an option kid on the way and wife will kill me) or maybe a MH T5 combo perhaps?

im assuming tek or ATI T5 fixture wouldn't help enough.

You can put the eggcrate and PVC to raise it 6" from the bottom of your tank. Then you'll have a 24" H tank. :biglaugh: JK...

I'm such an idiot. Took the eggcrate off and put the glass back on and the tank looks so much brighter. No wonder my zoa at the bottom has been acting funny. Hope it's not too late.

Not an idiot but you just traded one evil for another :(

With the glass covers back on you are inhibiting your oxygen exchange by a...lot.

Please build yourself a mesh cover, that way the light AND oxygen can get through. It's cheap and easy to do (you can't often find both of those words in the same sentence when they are both true! ;))

definitely kathyC thank you! Im going to make the mesh this weekend. I believe a pond net with 1/4" openings is what im getting. was told it doesnt block light and keeps the fish in and allows for gas exchange.

The glass is on for now so the wrasse cant jump out.

Just made my pond netting covers with the home depot screen kit. pretty happy if i do say so myself. only thing is that i couldnt make irregular shapes with the kid to go around the overflow and the return line.
