Red slime remover is usually an antibiotic, erythromycin. It does work very well, but as people have said, its a "nuclear" option. Something used only out of desperation. How old is your tank? I only had a serious problem with red slime in my tank's first few months. After continuous water changes didn't help, I finally dosed the tank. 1 dose got rid of it, fortunately without screwing up the tank any further. It never came back again as an outbreak. A few years later I saw it again, but only in a few spots. It was in winter, when the sun is really low, and the rays could reach my tank. Despite what people have said about high flow holding it back, these mini-outbreaks were confined to areas of high flow. I did nothing at all, and they disappeared on their own after a few weeks.
Received Dr. Tim's Waste away today dosed half the recommended 10ML for the first does. 5ML still seems like a lot for 10gallon total water volume.
Then next week ill dose the full 10ml.
