Painting the back of your tank

The back of my tank is not painted.... My question is should I paint it? If yes, how do I go about doing this? And what color is best?

my back isn't painted and i like it that way. the coraline algae just covers it up eventually anyway.

That's true... My coralline is growing fast from the bottom up.. More is on the bottom as of right now mayb in a year it will all be covered?

if its growing it will take off and only take a couple months to cover. my whole back wall was covered in about 4 months.

yea i think you will like that look a lot better, painted backgrounds just remind me of the fish store in my opinion. not natural but hey everyones diff lol.

LOL.. anyway.. paint color is preference. I used a light-ish blue color and I really like it. Most people spray paint the back. I used a roller/brush. It was a PITA and I don't really recommend it unless, like me, you can't use spray paint.

I use flat black and sprayed it on.
Yes in the house lol.

if your doing it in a house with the tank running i would not use spray paint at all. not only for the tank but for your lungs and health of the people in the household. use the paint i have uploaded on this thread. 4 - 5 coats with that roller in the picture as well and your good to go. i love the way the black looks. makes the tank look sharp well until the coraline algae takes ova.

Ya tank was not running and all family in household were not at home,windows were open took about 1 min. to do.
But I'm sure a roller works nice also I just didn't want to chance streaks.

hey mike no worry with the streaks. thats why the 4-5 coats you dont see anything. ive done it many times with diff. tanks. but good that no 1 was there and tank was empty ...
