You could always get a under the sink unit that doubles for home and reef use. Comes with its own faucet and a storage tank for ro (home) use and a ball valve and house under the sink for Ro/di (Reef). Purest drinking water for the family. makes it easier to sell the wife on it.

Lol thats a useful point to use in the future maybe, except my biggest issue is that I'm not exactly an adult and the parents don't exactly want an ugly rodi unit just hanging in the bathroom or in the kitchen. And thanks jimidalock, perhaps there are more places to put an rodi unit than I thought...have any good suggestions?

Both of those seem pretty expensive lol, its not that the unit is out of the question, its finding a place for it thats not an eyesore.....but under the sink doesn't seem half bad..gotta do more research...whats a good rodi unit to start with? I literally only need 10 gallons per day, when i decide to do water changes, which is once a week.

just go with a RODI, tell ur parents the filter can be routed for drinking too, but make sure its redirected after the RO section and before the DI. also if u need 10 gal/week, ur rodi filters would last u quite some time as compared to distilled water
