Anyone use Moonlights?

Just wondering if anyone uses moonlights and what you think.

i have white LEDs in my Orbit PC fixture. I love them - makes the water really look cool at night. I leave them on for three hours after the lights go out...

I don't know how blue LEDs would look, but the white really looks like moonlight.

i have the blue one that mount right under the mogul socket. Nice blue shimmering effect.

I found some in Pepboys auto, they were blue & under $15 for two.
It was a lot easer to feed my plate & brain corals under the LEDs at night
The fish were inactive and wont take the food from the corals.
FWIW, shrimps are active at night.

I also use the 3 LED blue lights for my moonlights. I get them from autoillumination dot com. I have four of them above my 75. They run for about 3 hrs, from 10-1am. They also come on one hour before actinics in the morning. I do this because sometimes I get to see the tank at that hour, and the polyp extension is AMAZING at that hour. I find that to be a great time to feed some cyclopeeze and DT's Oyster Eggs.

I use a CPR Aqua-Fuge (Large) and have a corallife 2 buld light over the fuge, so I reverse the cycle, and use the fuge light more or less as my moonlight since a little bit shines into the tank.

I also have the mogul mounts, IC to be exact. I would never have a tank without them!!!!!!!!!

It would be a waste not to have them on your tank.Your reef is as well like NYC ,IT never sleeps

I have two 1-watt blue LEDs on my 72 and leave them on all night. I love the look of it and it's cool to see what's going on in there at night. The fish don't seem to mind. Some hide in the rocks at night, but some sleep right out in the open. Actually, the Purple Pseudochromis doesn't seem to sleep at all. And the Yellow Tang takes an occasional pass around the tank. The Marine Betta stalks around like a ghost. And the Shrimp are running around all night long. I do wonder if it's good to leave them on all night, though. Anybody see a problem with that?

Hey I use the same ones as Russ. The three LED unit from autolumination. I aim them at my MH reflectors so that most of the tank has a nice soft glow as opposed to the spot light effect.

I have 4 blue ones in my Coralife PC light and they look great. I too leave them on all night. I read somewhere that it helps with coral growth but I don't think that's true.

I run them too. 3 of the blue bulbs you've seen from my LED frag tank thread. Just blue ones. The Tunze 7095 multicontroller I got comes with a 1 watt white LED that is on a 29 day lunar cycle. Pretty cool. Not very bright though. FWIW, my shrimp spawn the day after the "new moon" every time.

JMO ,bu ti dont think its bad at all to leave them on all nite ,after all things are still happening in there :bunnies:

Also ,dont we have moonlight all nite .Last time i went out at nite ,I saw the moon lit up LOL

Yea baby, I got some nice Lunar linkable lights from "Current" Have Four in total (2 in each piece)...Approx 1w each led....Here is a pic....Sorry for the darkness but they are "moonlights" lol ...you get the idea.. :grouphug:

WoW Russ those are pretty bright! ....Looks good!! Although i think my camera makes mine look alot duller than they are! ...Whats your light cycle like with the moonlights?

i run a 40 wat NO actnic very high in my hood... it gives off a glowing effect... i left it on one night all night and did not see any negative effects... one thing is that the corals need some darkness... for something they do... i will further this answer a lil more in a lil bit...
