I saw the subject of moonlights discussed on the forum at the saltwaterfish.com site. Some people argued running them all night is bad because this means corals never fully close, and if they remain partially open all night because some light is available they won't be fully open during the day either. And then someone argued that too much moonlight can also lead to algae. Don't know about either argument myself... But while it's true that the moon is always there and illuminates the ocean at night, there is such a thing as a cloudy night on occasion.
